Running to stand still?

Running to stand still?

Aiming to run a 10K, half marathon or even a full marathon soon?  Have you started training or are you leaving it to the last minute and cramming in the training sessions?  Although running is a great exercise with so many health benefits, it is a high impact sport that can cause a varied list of long-term injuries including knee pain, back pain, and stress fractures.  Not to mention other issues such as plantar fasciitis or Achilles tendonitis.  If you do get an injury, then you could be forced to slow down or even stop your training plan to give your body time to recover.

If you want to start or continue running, then key is good footwear.  Not the pair of trainers that are in the back of the wardrobe for the last ten years!  Invest in a good pair designed specifically for running that fit you properly and provide proper support. If you don’t get a pair of runners that are giving you the shock absorption, arch support and cushioning that you need then you might end up causing injuries that will last you a lifetime.  Ask any long-distance runner! It might cost you to invest in good shoes in the short term, but you are making a lifetime investing in your foot health which in turn invests in your whole health.  Put your best foot forward!
