Covid Toes!
What are Covid Toes? As Covid 19 continues to spread across the world, some new symptoms of the disease have been discovered that effect the toes. Practitioners from across the globe have noticed small dermatological lesions on the feet of sick people (mainly children and young people) sometimes with no other covid-19 symptoms. These lesions are purple in colour and typically appear around the tips of the toes and usually heal without leaving marks on the skin. They have been compared to the typical marks from chicken pox or measles.
Most foot lesions will heal up within a week or two, but some will follow with other Covid-19 symptoms such as fever, cough etc. Sometimes the foot lesions can be hot, burning, or itchy and are thought to be an immune system reaction caused by the inflammatory side effects of Covid-19. If you notice changes to your feet or are experiencing pain or discomfort, then its best to call your doctor regarding next steps for diagnosis and treatment. Stay Safe. Be vigilant. Put your best foot forward.
